SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS for HHGPE |
| 1)- |
If you are handling the packing of
the goods, be sure to use far more care, far more padding, and far
more "safety margin" than you might for "regular" cargo. |
| 2)- |
If the Shipper is
packing their own goods, offer them a packing checklist to help
them understand how best to pack.
AVAILABLE HERE |
| 3)- |
Be sure to provide them with a
copy of the insurance Terms & Conditions and all clauses that make
up the insuring contract.
We find it best to provide these when you provide all other
shipping documents. The Shippers may not read the Terms &
Conditions, but if you make a habit of providing the complete
packet at one time the Shipper can never say they were not
informed.
We have these available in an 11-page PDF if you wish it. |
| 4)- |
Be sure goods are packed for the
type of transit they face. Packing for a short truck shipment is
different than packing for a long truck shipment or an air
shipment or an ocean shipment. Each mode of transit presents
special problems and requirements. |
| 5)- |
If you are insuring the goods,
make sure that the Shipper understands what IS and WHAT IS NOT
covered under the insurance. |
| 6)- |
If Shippers are packing their own
goods be sure they understand that there are special Terms &
Conditions and EXCLUSIONS for what are called "Owner Packed Effects." |
| 7)- |
Be sure you have a complete
inventory, and that all items valued at more than USD 500.00 are
clearly noted. |
